The memorandum of understanding makes closer the New Silk Road<\/h3>\n

Saturday, March 23 China and Italy signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly advance the construction of the Belt and Road during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to the country.\u00a0(full agreements<\/a>)<\/p>\n

The memorandum of understanding includes 29 agreements that cover several topics from banking and health to innovation and culture, agriculture and citrus exports.<\/p>\n

The Italian minister of economic development Luigi Di Maio said the value of the individual signed deals amounts to 2.5 billion euros ($2.8 billion), with the potential to grow to 20 billion euros ($22.6 billion).<\/p>\n

With regard of transport, logistics and infrastructure,\u00a0the memorandum of understanding expresses the interest of the two governments to develop “synergies between the Belt and Road Initiative, the Italian system of transport and infrastructure, such as -inter alia- roads, railways, bridges, civil aviation and ports and the EU Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).”<\/p>\n

Another important topic is the\u00a0commitment to facilitate “customs clearance, strengthening co-operation in sustainable, safe and digital transport solutions”.<\/p>\n
