Sea Container Transport of Caravans to Taiwan

International Sea Shipping – How We Managed the Transport of Two Caravans from Venice to Taiwan

In the field of international transportation, every shipment requires meticulous attention to detail. In this case, we successfully managed the sea container transport of two caravans, one of which was out of gauge, with final destination Taiwan. Find out how we handled each stage of the project, ensuring maximum load safety while meeting the customer’s requirements.

Transport from the Shipper to Our Logistics Warehouse in Venice via Lowbed Truck

The shipment began with the transport of the two caravans from shipper’s factory to our logistics warehouse in Venice using a lowbed truck. Once the caravans arrived at our warehouse, they were prepared for container stuffing, with stuffing and lashing operations carried out to ensure their stability and protection during the voyage.

Type of Containers Used for the Transport

For the transport of these caravans, we utilized the following equipment:

  • 1 x 40′ HC container for the caravan with “standard” dimensions.
  • 1 x 40′ flat rack container for the out of gauge caravan (width 2.5 m ; height 2.63 m).

Load Securing and Lashing Operations

To let the caravans arriving at their destination in perfect condition, we performed meticulous securing and lashing operations on the containers.

For the 40′ Flat Rack Container (out of gauge caravan):

  • The over-dimensional caravan was secured with 8 straps, attached to the chassis and positioned to prevent any longitudinal or lateral movement.
  • To protect the straps from potential damage, protective rubber material was placed at contact points between the caravan and the container.
  • The caravan was covered with an extra-size tarpaulin to protect the load from weather conditions and potential damage during sea transport. The tarpaulin was secured with a strap to ensure it remained firmly in place throughout the journey.

For the 40 HC Container (Standard Caravan):

  • To protect the trailer from potential damage caused by impacts or vibrations, we wrapped it in bubble wrap.
  • Polystyrene corner protectors (20 mm) were placed at contact points on the caravan to provide additional protection.
  • The container’s inner walls were lined with cardboard to avoid any damage during transport.
  • The container’s floor was protected with 60 mm polystyrene, while the corners of the caravan were padded with polystyrene to minimize the risk of damage.
  • A polystyrene block was placed on top of the caravan to eliminate gaps and reduce the risk of damage from vibrations.
  • The caravan was further secured with 4 straps attached to the chassis and the towbar at the front of the container to prevent movement during transport.
